Flower Essences - the Best Kept Secret
“The Wheel has now Turned Full-Circle”
"Flower what?"
"You mean essential oils?"
"Oh! Bach Flowers?"
"Those things in bottles at the health-food shop?"
"Oh..... you mean they are
not
a type of essential-oil, as used in aromatherapy?"
"Oh..... really? They are made in a totally different way to essential
oils?"
"Energy medicine? More like homeopathic remedies, but not quite the same,
and made by exposing flowers floating on water to sunlight. Really?
That's fascinating! I never knew that!"
"And..... you take them orally? A few drops in the mouth?"
"Oh! Rescue-Remedy!
Now
I know what you are talking about!
Yes
..... of course! I keep a bottle in the car glove-box."
The above conversation is perhaps typical of many people's very sketchy
knowledge of what must be the best-kept secret in holistic health.
Modern flower essence therapy, using the latest generation of essences,
is one of the most powerful therapies of its type on the planet, yet hardly
anybody, including many holistic-health therapists, is aware of this.
Why is this?
One reason is that there are only a small number of specialist practitioners
working with the very latest generation of flower essences. Sure, there are
plenty of practitioners (eg. most naturopaths) who use the Bach Flowers, but
comparing the Bach Flowers to the most recent generations of essences is like
comparing a horse and buggy with the space shuttle!
"OK!" I can hear you saying. "That's fine. But! If that's
the case..... it must take years of training and practice to become a highly
skilled practitioner in flower essences. Little wonder that there are very few
of them around, and that the public awareness is so low."
"Well no!" is my reply. "In fact, the opposite is true. To
learn to use the very latest generation of flower essences is actually easier
than it was to learn to use earlier generations of essences, and it's
much
simpler than most other holistic health modalities, for example homeopathy,
which is very complex to learn in any depth."
"That seems impossible" you say. "How can the latest version
of anything be much more powerful than earlier versions, yet at the same time easier to
learn and use. It certainly is
not
the case with computer software, so how can your flower essences be any
different?"
Well, let me explain.......
In the beginning, way back in the 1930's, there were the Bach Flowers.
Discovered by the English medical doctor, Edward Bach, the Bach Flowers were
the first "flower essences" in the modern era, they were the
"first generation" of flower essences, and for a long time they were
the
only
flower essences.
This was just fine, because the Bach Flowers are quite simple to use. There
are only 38 of them in total, and each one is for a particular emotional or
mental state. Diagnosis is relatively simple..... for example if someone is
obviously in a state of panic then the Bach Flower Remedy to give them is Rock
Rose. If someone is impatient or irritable, then Impatiens is the
"obvious" Bach Flower that is needed, and so on for all 38 of them.
Another reason why the Bach Flowers were so appropriate as the
only
set of flower essences right through the 1930's into the 1960's and 70's is
that with flower essences, the energy of the essences closely matches the
energy-state of humanity as it was at the time that those particular essences
were first discovered and used.
And, through the decades of the 1930's to the 1960's, the energy-state of
humanity, of the mass-consciousness, including the
issues
that affected the people back then, did not change much. The concerns and
worries of the average person in 1960 had not changed much from the
concerns and worries of the average person in 1930.
However..... since the 1970's, life for us humans on Planet Earth has
"speeded up". Many of the issues and "problems" that
preoccupy us today did not exist in 1960, let alone 1930.
So.... from around the 1970's new sets of flower essences started appearing in
various countries of the world. These new sets of essences were more in tune
with the energy of the times when they were made...... the decades of the
1970's and 80's.
Let's "now fast-forward" to the present. 2001. We are now well and
truly into the new millennium. The trend of "everything speeding up"
is continuing. We cope with this as best we can, with a large part of the
population suffering from "future shock" and looking back on earlier
times with nostalgia. Certainly many people of my generation, who grew up in
the 1950's and 60's, look back at our childhood days (through rose-tinted
glasses) with feelings of nostalgic longing.
Matching energy with these times of rampant "future shock" and
frenetic change,
a new generation of flower essences has recently been appearing.
I only became aware of this myself in 1999, when I realised that the essences
that I was making were a lot "different" from the essences that I had
been using in my essence practice up until then.
The essences that I had trained on, and had been using, were all made in the 1980's
and the early 90's. I considered them to be the "latest and greatest", and, up
until the mid-90's, they were. I made my first essence at Easter 1996,
not knowing what was to come, and it was not until early 1999 (by which time I had
made approx. 200 essences) that I began to
wake up to the fact that these new essences were very "different".
And, this latest generation of essences, what I call the "fourth generation"
essences, is a
lot
different from earlier generations of essences. These latest essences have a depth
and breadth to their energy that is far greater. Their energy patterns are far
more complex.
"So.... does this mean that, in order to be a skilled practitioner using
this latest generation of flower essences, requires more time and energy spent
studying and practicing?"
Until recently, I would have to have said "Yes". However, just
recently, very recently, within this past year, this has all changed.....
Within this last year, since October 2000 to be precise, it is like we have now come the
"full circle". Yet, at the same time, we have progressed on to the
point where the very latest essences have a level of power that was unheard of
until now.
We began with the Bach Flowers, with each individual flower remedy being for
one specific emotional or mental state. We progressed through the years with
succeeding generations of essences becoming more and more powerful. But as
these essences kept pace with the societal changes of the times (in the 70's,
the 80's and into the 90's), it did become more challenging to learn to become
highly skilled in their use. I must have spent thousands of hours of training
and practice to become the essence specialist that I am today. And, of course,
very few people are able to make this sort of commitment.
As if in answer to this dilemma, the dilemma of increasing complexity and
increasing specialisation, Nature has provided an answer (as She always
does)......
Enter..... "Super-Essences".
"What?" I can hear you say..... "What on Earth are
Super-Essences?"
Here is a concise explanation.....
"Super-Essences" are made by mixing together small numbers of
latest-generation essences together in a special way (they are
not
made by just mixing the individual essences together into an amphorus
solution). The individual component essences have to be of the very latest
generation, you cannot make a "Super-Essence" with essences made
before the mid-1990's.
In the manufacturing process, extra steps are introduced, including the use of
special "linkage" energies to hold the energetic structure of the
Super-Essences together.
And, we have come full-circle in the diagnostic process. Super-Essences are
even easier to diagnose than the Bach Flowers. This is because there is a
single Super-Essence for each one of the issues that face us here in the year
2001. There is a single Super-Essence for "stress". There is
another single Super-Essence for "support", one for "keeping
on", one for "depression", and another for "body
energy", and so on.
The diagnosis process has become so simple, that it really takes no training at
all. Gone is the need to learn the basic definitions and characteristics of
dozens and scores of essences. With the Super-Essences, the name of the
essence tells you what it is for!
If you wish to look deeper, yes, each individual essence that makes up a
"Super-Essence" has its own "definition", and you can look
at these and get a feel for what the overall energy of the Super-Essence is
about. Specialist practitioners will probably want to do this, but it is
not
necessary for the diagnostic process.
In fact, for the highly trained, highly specialised practitioner who wants to "really
go for it", the Super-Essences have huge depth to them..... way
beyond any essences of earlier generations. But, it is entirely
optional to dive in deeply!
A relative beginner can use the Super-Essences
with ease and achieve wonderful results.... this is already happening for
a number of novice practitioners who have recently begun using them.
And, because there is a single Super-Essence for each issue, a practitioner now
has to invest in a much smaller kit of essences in order to possess a very
effective tool which covers a wide range of issues. For example, the
"starters kit" that I have put together, has just twenty bottles,
plus a bottle of a special
"linkage" essence (the
White Magnolia).
And, the full
Practitioners Set comprises just forty-four.
(Only six more than the original essences, the Bach Flowers, so we
have
come "full circle"!)
A good analogy is with the motor car. Very early cars were very simple, and
for years all cars followed the same design pattern. They all had the same
basic engine components like a distributor, carburetor, spark plugs, radiator,
etc.
Modern cars have recently become more and more complex..... yet, because of
the advances in technology, they are more reliable and need a lot less
servicing than earlier models. They are also much more powerful and
comfortable to ride in. How many Model-T Fords or Austin-Sevens are still in
use for everyday transport?
And, just as you do
not
have to be a qualified automotive engineer to drive a modern motor car, you
do not have to have the level of skill of the people who actually
make
the Super-Essences in order to use them competently as a practitioner. You
can leave the details of what goes in inside the workings of the engine to
people like me who have chosen to make the manufacture and use of essences our
life's calling.
However.... in the world of flower essences, so far, most practitioners have
continued to use their old "Model-T" and "1935 Chevvy Straight-Six"
models.
As explained above, there have been very good reasons for this, very
appropriate reasons, until now. However, now, with the appearance of the
"Super-Essences" these reasons are no longer valid.

Edward Bach would think of all of this if he was still around? I feel that he
would have been the one leading the way in these continuing developments. And,
I am also sure that he is smiling at us modern day essence specialists who are
"following in his footsteps", and he is also probably a member of the
"team" on the inner planes who are the
real
creators of these latest innovations in the therapy that he founded.
