Black Obsidian
Gem Essence
Definition:
For unrequited love, both for other people but especially
in the relationship with self.
If one has an unrequited love with an other, one definitely
has an unrequited love with self.
A gem essence made 2 May, 2000, in Hawkes Bay, from a piece
of black obsidian supplied by Lisa.
Lisa had seen the need for this essence some time before it was
actually made in physical form, and we had been using the essence
for some time by “calling its energy in”.
The interesting thing about black obsidian is that it is of volcanic
origin. It has been very much “formed by the fire”, forged in the
heat and pressure inside the mountain.
The photographs were taken on 29 September 2002, of a lovely
large piece of black obsidian, that was kindly loaned to me for the
purpose of photographing it, by my friend Anja Lines, of Earthsong
Jewellery.
When I was taking the photos, I noticed that the sunlight was reflected
off the obsidian, and I thought then that this would make
an interesting photographic affect, but, when I received the photos
back from processing, I was surprised and delighted to find that the
blue sky and the white clouds are clearly reflected on the obsidian.
