Olearia
Flower Essence
Olearia albida
A New Zealand Native tree
Mãori name - Tanguru
Definition:
A flower essence for when one has been caught up in an
aberration of thought, mental processes
overworked.
To streamline the thought process.
Mental body, mental level - to find the forward path.
A flower essence, made 14 October, 1998, at “Stone Pine Creek”
Lavender Farm, Te Horo.
This essence is made from the flowers at the seeding stage, once the flowers
have turned into fluffy white seed-heads.
Made from one of several half-grown Olearia trees on the lavender farm
property, down towards the west road.
For several months after making this essence, it was mis-identified as
Lemonwood (the Lemonwood and Olearia trees look very similar to an inexpert
amateur botanist like me!)
A knowledgeable friend saw a photograph of the tree, and said “That's
Olearia, not Lemonwood!”
Another friend insisted that it was indeed Lemonwood!
The controversy was solved on a later visit to the lavender farm, by the
simple expedient of finding the tree, plucking a leaf, and breaking it in
half.
It did not smell of lemons, as a Lemonwood leaf would. Controversy
settled.
The tree is definitely Olearia, confirmed by close inspection
of the tree
and comparing with photographs from books.
Interesting though, that we had the correct definition,
irrespective of what the tree is called!
Nature does not much care what label we put on the plant.....
this flower essence was for “aberration of thought”,
and whether the label on the
bottle was to end up as “Olearia”
or “Lemonwood” made no difference to the
essence definition
(although a correct identification is important
for the making
of future supplies of the essence).
