Spur Valerian
Flower Essence
Centranthus ruber (pink)
(Jupiter’s Beard)
Definition:
The sense of loss perceived when a relationship
has ended, and one is still believing the outcome
should have been different.
To help one understand that this relationship was
never going to last, that it was never going to be
anything other than what it was: an opportunity for
healing, and a quantum leap forward in your journey.
For House Balancing (Feng Shui):
A balancer.
The master balancing essence of the house chi.
A flower essence, made 16 November, 1996.
For years, every spring and summer, I had seen
the bright pink flowers of this plant growing on the
banks beside the motorways and roads around Wellington.
They possibly caught my eye because I had never seen
them in the South Island: they seem to be localised
around the Wellington district.
When I first started making essences, I immediately
knew that I should make an essence from this plant.
For a long time, I did not know the name of the plant:
I just called it “Pink Bank Plant”.
I searched many books looking for it in vain, but finally,
an English book identified it as “Jupiter's Beard”,
and it was apparently brought to Britain from the Mediterranean
area by the Romans. So I re-labeled my bottles
“Jupiter's Beard”.
But, a few months later, when browsing through a book on New Zealand
weeds, there it was again, listed as “Spur Valerian”. And that is what I
have called the essence, because this is the name that is more likely to be
known here in New Zealand.
To make the essence, I had to find a location where the flowers grew in a
place where it was safe for me to pick them! Most places where they grow
are right beside busy motorways! I eventually found a place, on a bank
beside where I walked to work every morning. The essence was made from
pink flowers, but there are also varieties with red flowers and with white flowers.
I have used this essence a surprising number of times, for many people,
including myself (see the story of the making of the
Mahoe
essence: this
essence was also in my own “relationship ending” mixes, in 1998, along with
the Mahoe).
This essence is not just for people who are recovering from the ending of a
“romantic” type relationship: it applies to all types of relationship.
